Learning, Work and Opportunity
How education and training connect to work, who loses access along the way, and which arrangements help.

Questions we ask
- How do education and training connect to work?
- Who loses access along the way?
- Which school, employer, mentoring and public support arrangements help?
Human development asks whether people can learn, work and build meaningful lives. This program follows the institutional links that are supposed to carry a young adult from completing education or training to a first sustained work opportunity, and looks closely at where those links break.
Who this work is for. Education providers, youth employment organisations, and officials responsible for transition support.

Connecting learning to work
What connects education or training to a young adult's first sustained work opportunity?
What we are asking
- Where do participants lose support between completing learning and finding work: information, costs, credentials, employer contacts, placement, or other barriers?
- Who owns the handover between the education provider, the employer, and public or nonprofit support agencies?
- What opportunities are actually available, and how do participants experience access and exclusion?
- What do program records show about placement, continued employment, working conditions and follow-up?
How we will study it
About eight exploratory interviews with adult learners or recent completers, program staff, and employers or placement practitioners, alongside a review of program materials and follow-up records. Reported and documented outcomes are kept separate.
Setting
One accessible school, training or employment-support initiative in Nigeria or India. The other country may supply a later comparison.
What it will produce
Bridge File 01, A Bridge Note, An Inside Delivery feature.
This is exploratory work. It cannot estimate national prevalence or demonstrate causal impact, and every release will say so.
Next questions
Opportunity gaps
How do geography, cost, language and family resources affect access to transition support?
