Civic Participation and Accountability
When participation and public communication produce an institutional response, and what enables youth voice, civic learning and accountability.

Questions we ask
- When do participation and public communication produce an institutional response?
- What enables youth voice, civic learning and accountability?
Civic participation asks whether people can influence the arrangements that serve them and obtain a response. This program traces what happens after people raise a concern: acknowledgement, explanation, action, or no documented response.
Who this work is for. Civic organisations, educators and public participation teams.
Current study
Planned
Youth voice and institutional follow-through
What enables a youth participation process to obtain a response from a public institution?
What we are asking
- Do young adults know which institution can act, and how they can reach it?
- What happens after a concern is raised: acknowledgement, explanation, action, or no documented response?
- What responsibilities, feedback arrangements or intermediaries appear to support follow-through?
How we will study it
About eight exploratory interviews with adult participants, organisers or institutional practitioners, and an educator or researcher, tracing a small number of concerns through available records and accounts.
Setting
One civic organisation, consultation channel or participation initiative in an accessible Nigerian location.
What it will produce
Bridge File 02, A Bridge Note, An Inside Delivery feature.
This is exploratory work. It cannot estimate national prevalence or demonstrate causal impact, and every release will say so.
